Speer's premium 45 ACP Gold Dot line of JHP defence force armament is swell for personal protection.
Speer Golden Dot Armament is loaded with bonded core bullets and designed for critical defense needs.
Bonding the jacket to the core means the elimination of core-jacket separation and superior weight retention making information technology more effective than traditional hollow-point bullets in the event that the bullet encounters bone or heavy clothing upon entry.
This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable nickel-plated contumely cases.

Ballistics Test Summary
In order to find out how different self-defense handgun loads perform, we decided to do some ballistics gelatin testing of our own. The chart below is a compilation of expansion and penetration data for Speer 185 gr Gilt Dot fired from 10 feet, through iv layers of fabric (to simulate wear), using a Kahr CW45 pistol.
The photo slider provides a close-up view of the bullets we recovered from the gelatin, and the video shows this load entering the gel in farthermost tiresome motion.
The diagrams at the bottom of the page tin can requite you an idea of how this load compares to other .45 ACP self-defence loads that we tested.
We did a lot more than of this ballistic gelatin testing, including over 100 different loads in a variety of calibers, so check out Lucky Gunner Labs for all the details.

A: Speer's Gilt Dot is the original bonded cadre handgun bullet! Speer electrochemically fuses the Gold Dot bullet's core and jacket together one molecule at a time, and it's extremely durable as the upshot.

A: Great question. There's two things going on hither. Bullet weight and bullet construction. The 185 gr bullet is patently lighter than the 230 gr bullet. The bullet weighs less and volition also produce a little less recoil when fired from the aforementioned gun equally the 230 gr. The second outcome is bullet construction. Speer makes "short butt" versions of certain of their products because when a normal hollowpoint circular is fired from a short barrel, the bullet will not build enough velocity to expand reliably when information technology hits the target. And so the "brusque barrel" version of their hollowpoints addresses this upshot with a different projectile, designed to aggrandize properly fifty-fifty at the lower velocities produced by firing them in shorter barrelled handguns.
